Auto Accidents – What to do if you are involved in an automobile accident:
- Don’t leave the scene
- Call the Police from the accident scene
- Don’t admit fault. Don’t discuss the accident with anyone except the Police or your insurance representative.
- Don’t discuss your insurance coverage or limits.
- Write down the names, addresses and phone numbers of everyone who was involved in or witnessed the accident.
- Write down the license numbers, insurance company name and policy numbers of everyone involved in the accident.
- Call the 800 number for your insurance company or our office as soon as possible so the insurance company can get to work settling your claim as soon as possible.
Homeowners Losses – What to do if you have a homeowners insurance loss:
- Call the 800 number for your insurance company or our office as soon as possible.
- In the case of theft, call the Police.
- If your credit cards are stolen, call the credit card company.
- Protect your property from further damage. Make necessary repairs – replace broken windows, have standing water removed and carpet dried, pipes repaired, etc. Keep a record of your repair expenses so you can give those to the claims adjuster.
- If you have a camera handy, take some pictures of the damage.
- Make a list (inventory) of all damaged property along with approximate values.
